“OVO, we aim for the head, we don’t aim to please. Looking forward to delivering it to you,” Drake said. Lil Wayne would later say he was better than Jay Z in a 2006 Complex feature, and Jay would subliminally reply in T.I.'s "Watch What You Say To Me" by saying "my DNA in your music." Nothing real deep here just wanted to point out a couple small ways Wayne was influence by Jay.On an episode of OVO Sound 42’s Fri Yiy Friday on Sirius XM earlier this month, Drake shared that Certified Lover Boy was complete. Wayne was clearly a big fan of Jigga man. One more Jay Z influence would be the way Wayne heralded himself as the best rapper on his name defining song "Best Rapper Alive" and how it was reminiscent of Jay's track "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" from the Black Album and one of his all time greatest lines: "I drop the Black Album Then I back out it As the best rapper alive, n**** ask about me" Lil Wayne would later say he was " the best rapper alive since the best rapper retired,” referring to Jay. One would be on the track "Best Rapper Alive" when Wayne says on the chorus "they gon R-E-S-P-E-C-T me" - it was reminiscent of Jay Z's song "Girls, Girls, Girls" on his 2001 Blueprint where he said "She like, "Listen Jigga Man, I don't care if you rap You better R-E-S-P-E-C-T me"" Another small remnant would be how the track "Weezy Baby" reminded me of "Hovi Baby" from the Blueprint 2. But another is the way it seemed like Jay Z influenced the album in a couple subtle ways that I caught. One would be how tough the albums is as a whole, absolutely phenomenal.
